FMOL Health Earns Credit Rating Upgrade to A1 from Moody's Rating

December 08, 2025

BATON ROUGE, LA - FMOL Health announced that Moody's Ratings has upgraded the health system’s revenue bond rating from A2 to A1, an announcement which comes after the health system’s most successful financial year on record. The upgrade reflects FMOL Health’s sustained exceptional operating performance in conjunction with liquidity and strong strategic market presence.

“This upgrade to an A1 rating with a positive outlook is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, who have delivered operational excellence and disciplined financial stewardship across all our markets,” said Mike Gleason, chief financial officer of FMOL Health. “The recognition from Moody's validates our strategy of leveraging our scale and academic partnership to deliver innovative, mission-driven care while ensuring long-term financial health for the communities we serve.”

Moody's highlighted FMOL Health's strong market position across Louisiana, particularly its leading market share in Baton Rouge and strategic partnership with Louisiana State University. This partnership is expected to continue driving strong patient volumes and enhancing the system's brand equity, as well as its commitment to innovation in care, education, athletics and research.

The upgrade to A1 with an additional positive outlook is attributed to the health system’s strong operating cash flow and continued financial stability. The positive outlook underscores the expectation that strong operating cash flow margins will be sustained, providing ample internal funding for FMOL Health’s strategic, multi-year plan to expand its market presence and signature clinical programs.

“This achievement exemplifies the tremendous successes of the past few years, made possible by the dedication of our team members and medical staff,” said E.J. Kuiper, president and chief executive officer of FMOL Health. “It demonstrates FMOL Health's leadership in delivering exceptional healthcare across the Gulf South and reflects the trust our patients place in us. Looking ahead, we will continue to invest in programs and partnerships that expand access to care, improve health outcomes and strengthen the well-being of families throughout our communities.”

The upgraded rating and positive outlook underscore the health system’s ability to continue investing in best-in-class technology, innovative programs, and the highest quality patient care.
